Textiles - Cerys Adams

Cerys Adams set up her designer business after her first child was born. Her background has always been in textiles having obtained a Degree in Community, Art and Textiles in the 80’s. After working for Laura Ashley for a number of years as a designer and seamstress she moved on to a different company, designing functional and fashionable outdoor wear. However Cerys wanted to turn her hand to recycling clothing, containers and anything she could find of use and adapted her talents to work in a therapeutic way with people recovering from severe and enduring Mental Illness and their carers.

Her latest designs include one off “Curtain Bags” which are made from mock curtain shop samples, hence the name. The bags incorporate recycled leather, velvet, and a range of fabrics to create a functional designer look that can go anywhere! It is the perfect size for shopping in town and looks so much better than a handful of plastic bags and it is more environmentally friendly too! The lush interiors have a pocket to pop small items in, such as a mobile phone, making it easier to find those ever disappearing essentials that always find their way to the bottom of a bag! The bags are great for overnight stays and for the office they offer a daring touch of femininity, roomy enough for lunch, laptop or iPad and even that extra pair of shoes for after work nights out!

Cerys’s ability to adapt her talent to different textile techniques means that she is always looking at new designs and products. Her silk button range includes batik and free hand embroidery which can update any old outfit or jacket. New products are under way so watch this space especially as colour plays an important role in creating luxurious quality and unique items!
