Soft Furnishings - Helen Williams

Helen was 7 years of age when she started to sew. Her grandmother took her to Rogers & Jacksons Haberdashery in Wrexham for a dress pattern and under guidance Helen made her first dress. She can still remember the petit flower fabric and mandarin collar and puff sleeves . She made it on an old Singer sewing machine that her grandmother had bought 2nd or 3rd hand during WWII so that she could make shirts for her son from her husband's shirt tails - recycling at its best because it was out of necessity due to the war time enforced rationing. From the day she wore her new dress, Helen has always had a passion for needlework and is a perfectionist which is evident in all of her work. Helen used her needlework skills to make special surprises for her children in their Christmas stocking before progressing on to other items for her home, friends and family. Since the 1970's Helen has collected vintage fabrics which now form the foundation for producing her beautiful products that other people can enjoy. Helen's therapy is sewing and she loves to turn her hand to new ideas.
