Olwen is a truly remarkable lady. At 70 she has been able to embrace new ways of using her talent to produce outstanding quality work. Her ability to make one-off pieces of distinction identifies her as a true artist. Her hats are a delight to wear. They are knitted or crocheted from 100% wool in North Wales and then washed and partially felted before being moulded, stretched and pulled into shape. The shape will depend on how the wool reacted in the felting process! The excellent use of colour only adds to the richness of the hat and reflects the mood of the sky, mountains and sea where Olwen lives. These fantastic hats are comfortable and practical to wear. Colour is very important to Olwen. This is evident in all of her work. Her eccentricities and talent transfer to many types of wool based products in a meaningful and outstanding way and her free style crochet is a real treat to behold. Challenges and inspiration spur Olwen on so that she continues to find new ways of working her magic into something wonderful that stands out from the crowds.
